Samper Recital Hall

Our second recital will feature a septet of principal musicians performing Stravinsky’s compelling parable of a soldier who trades his fiddle to the devil in return for unlimited economic gain. L’Histoire du Soldat was conceived by Igor Stravinsky and Swiss writer C. F. Ramuz based on a Russian folk tale (The Runaway Soldier and the Devil) drawn from the collection of Alexander Afanasyev.

The septet will include concertmaster Nigel Armstrong, double bass principal Alden Cohen, clarinet, bassoon principal Erin Irvine, trumpet principal Matt Ebisuzaki, trombone principal Esther Armendariz, and percussion principal Norm Peck.
